I mentioned Plastic Jungle last year and thought I’d mention it once again.
You can purchase or you can sell gift cards for a ton of retailers from Target to Home Depot.
The idea is that if you received a gift card you might not need or want, you can trade it in for Amazon money or cash!
So for example, if you received a gift card to Gap for $50 that you don’t need. You can sell it to Plastic Jungle for $43.58 in Amazon credit or for $41.50 in cash.
Each store will have a different value and the more desirable the store, the higher value payback you get.
You can also buy cards at a discount. I have personally found the really good ones sell for just a tiny bit under the retail value and tend to go fast.
For example, Target $20 cards are available for $19.40. You can get a Macy’s $25 gift card for $22- or a $100 Home Depot card for $93… so if you have some large purchases ahead of you this might make sense.
I did this (on cardwoo.com) for my husband’s Bday dinner. He wanted to go to Outback, which basically never has coupons, so I bought a GC for $22.50 that was worth $25. Not a ton of savings, but at least it is something ;D
I had “starred” this link in google reader and actually had a chance to use Plastic Jungle this past week! It only took a week to get payment (into a paypal account) which was a lot better than having a $50 giftcard we would never use. Thank you for posting this! 🙂
