Wow! This is so exciting- Groupon is offering a subscription to the Sacramento Bee today for just $19!
That is for 52 weeks of Sunday papers and makes them .36 a paper!!
This is for new subscribers only and you have to be within the delivery area. (Update: According to the comments, you can add subscriptions to your current one. So if you currently get the Bee you should be able to add more subscriptions at this price.)
Head on over to Groupon to have a look.
I don’t see a limit to how many papers you can get on this offer! My subscription just ended and I was not looking forward to calling and trying to get the price back to $20 per year so this is perfect timing for me!

Charlene, someone asked whether they could buy more than one on the Groupon board and this was what the Bee said:
The S. commented 3 hours and 22 minutes ago “You can buy multiple subscriptions. We don’t want to be responsible for Sunday morning squabbles, so get one for every member of your family and you’ll have multiple coupons to use! This is the best deal The Bee has ever offered for home delivery and it is only available for new subscribers who haven’t taken the paper in the last 60 days.”
Yeah Tara I immediately updated with that info- just refresh your screen.
These are not just Sunday deliveries, right? I want to buy multiples, but that is ton of newspapers to throw away everyday.
Whoops I pasted the entire comment, I was referring to the limit of papers (ie none! you can definitely get multiple).
Does the Sacramento Bee usually get good Qs?
Yes Lisa it does.
I am soooo happy. My current $20 subscription runs out in April and I wondered how I was going to get them to honor that price again. I had a two dollar credit with groupon, so only $17!! Woo Hoo!
I’m completely bummed that my zip code doesn’t qualify!! They will deliver to Redding north of us, and Corning south of us but apparently Red Bluff is out of luck 🙁
What an awesome deal for all of those who are able to take advantage of it!
Charlene, how are you planning on subscribing to this if you are already an existing customer? My subscription just ended the 16th, and I haven’t renewed yet… I was thinking I would just cancel mine completely and order 2 more under my husband’s name… do you think that will work?
Sarah I did it under my name. I don’t think they care because the comments were from a Sac Bee guy saying it didn’t matter if you already subscribe, you can get more. So I think to be 100% safe you can use your husband’s name. I bought 4 subscriptions. I used to get 3 but I think I will do four this year.
Oh and by the way- if you get more than one subscription you can have your husband do a Groupon account from your referral email and then you get $5 I think into your account. So each of you could buy a subscription and your price is $35.
And my renewal just came in the mail so this is perfect timing!
I just got off the phone with Sac Bee, since I have an active subscription, they told me I could not use this Groupon. And I could not add it to the end of my subscription. Is anyone else having this same problem? Anyone having success in tacking it onto their current subscription?
I have some appointments today to run off too Jen but I will try it this afternoon. The comments clearly said you can and personally I loathe the “service” at the Sac Bee which is why I was happy to avoid dealing with them. I have always just asked for a supervisor immediately when I call. The worst case is that you get a refund from Groupon so no need to panic.
I called them, cancelled my old subscription. Called them back 5 minutes later and ordered the two I got from Groupon under a different name (my mom’s) Didn’t have any problems! But, my friend went to cancel hers before she bought the groupon and they asked why she was cancelling and she said too expensive. The lady then said, well if I can give it to you at a discount will you stay? And my friend said depends on the discount and she said how about $19.99 and my friend said YES! So just an FYI.
By the way, on the groupon I changed it to a gift (you can easily edit your purchase) and put my Mom’s name… I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. As I read the comments, I thought it meant that you could add a subscription to an existing subscription (making multiples) but you couldn’t replace the subscription. Meaning that you would get one subscription at the discounted price, but your other one would stay the same. Hope I’m wrong thouh for your sake!
