Here are a few updates for Rite Aid- the $1 +Up Reward is still printing on select food items.

You can get TGI Friday’s Chips for .97 and those are printing a $1 +Up Reward.

Hormel Chili is priced at 4/$5 with a $1 +Up back on 4. ย The bonus $1 +Up is also printing- so here is the math:

Buy 4 cans at $1.25
Use (2) .55/2 Hormel printables
and Use .50 Hormel ad perk coupon
Pay $3.40 and get a total of (5) $1 +Up Rewards back
(Thanks SoutherncalSaver)

I also went to check out the New York Bagel Crisps on sale this week for 2/$3 with a $1 +Up back.

I used (2) $.75/1 printable coupons (must register) and paid $1.50 and got a $1 +Up back. ย So .25 per bag after coupon and these are sooo yummy!

Has anyone else spotted other food items that are free or very cheap with +Up this week?

Thanks for the heads up! I just got back from doing the hormel, and t.p. deal at Rite Aid. I noticed they had pretty resonable sized bags of brown rice for 1.59 that were also producing the 1.00 up reward. Thanks for all your hard work. I always come to your site first, it’s the best one, since I live in central cal, we seem to have the same stores and no love with the doubles ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh Jessica I was looking for that rice because we actually need rice! I couldn’t find it. My store had a whopping 4 cans of Hormel on the shelf too ๐Ÿ™‚ I think if you plan to shop RA you best get there early.

Charlene– Was that NY bagel chip coupon enormous when it printed for you? Is there any way to shrink it to a more normal size when printing?

    01/16/2011 at 7:14 PM

Oops – now I figured out how to “shrink to printable area” since it is a PDF coupon. Please disregard my last comment.

Yulean, how nice of you donated food to food bank. That is good you are very thoughtful:)

I haven’t been yet, but I saw a Hormel and Chex mix coupon on the adperks. That should sweeten the deal a little more. Thanks for your time it takes to put all this together. I just love this site!!!

I noticed the the +UPs for Hormel are not only printing for the buy 4 get $1 +UP but also printing PER ITEM.
I spent $5 on (4) cans chilli, had $2.50 in Qs…. so spent $2.50 on chilli and got $5 +UPs! Is this the experience anyone else has had?
Also, there is FREE toilet paper if you can find it. $1 for Simplify TP four -packs, get $1 in +UPs. I could only find 4 packs. Worth the trip! I spent $3.45 and got $12 +UPs.

Adrianna- the TP was in the matchups for the week and the Hormel is actually listed above.

Yulean, I think it is very thoughtful to get extras for donation as well. One thing that I personally try not to do is ever clear shelves at any store. Especially on the first day of a sale. I think at the end of a sale it is another matter but I always try to leave inventory for others. I know how disappointed I am when I shop early in the week and the shelf is totally empty. Even though your heart was in the right place, I think you want to consider that next person too. Maybe they only have $20 to spend on groceries for the week and they have 3 teenage boys to feed or something. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Becky, I also bought a bag of Combos and didn’t get an Up+ reward. Guess it’s not working everywhere.

Maybe it is just certain flavors that are working? What kind did you guys buy?

I bought the chedder flavor Combos and did not get an UP. Good thing I only bought 1 to test it. And the stores are already running out of TP and Kleenex

    01/16/2011 at 11:19 PM

Ok I will take the Combos off if those aren’t working for everyone. Glad the TGI Fridays seem to be Ok.

Bummer…I went this afternoon but the shelves were cleared of toilet paper and Hormel. Hopefully they’ll re-stock this week. I guess I need to be standing at the door at 8am when they open Sunday morning to get in on any sales.

I really wish there were limits on how many of these awesome deals people could get. Not that I want it to be one per person, but I just don’t think people should ever need 10, 20, 30, etc…of ANYTHING! At my local rite aid, the manager told me that there were people that came in at opening time and actually RAN for the toilet paper deal, then were frantically throwing it into their baskets trying to get it all. SERIOUSLY? Has it really gotten that far out of control? It’s like the black friday stampede! I’m sure that toilet paper is pretty rough, too…hardly worth it! And I know that so many people claim that they get so much so they can donate it, but if that was really the case, they wouldn’t be so DESPERATE to get the deals. I’m sure people really do donate, but I doubt they are going out any buying, say 30 of whatever and donating most of it. Maybe one or two. I wish people would just admit that they have a problem…some weird compulsion to not miss any deal and get as much as they can, to fill some sort of void in their life. That or just greed. Sorry for the rant, I don’t mean to offend, but it really is irritating.

I am not offending any one but there are people out there that are shop good deal to donate. May be not you but other, lol. I think they can buy as much as they want if they are willing to get up early in the morning to get the deal. When I saw shelt was clear I thought people are really die hard for this deal but I am happy for them because they got there earlier than me.

  20. Charlene says

    01/17/2011 at 4:32 PM

Melissa- I think the majority of people that use coupons donate items and I do personally donate a considerable amount. In fact yesterday I bagged up 2 large Hefty bags of items to drop off. I don’t see the need to make a fuss about it on MFA and in my experience, I have found good deals and free items are so plentiful there is really no need to buy a store completely out of inventory.

    01/17/2011 at 4:48 PM

Christen, it is not healthy for my kids to eat all of the TGI snack that is why I donated 15 bags to food bank. You may think I am crazy but have you ever donated anything at all to the poor? if not you should have tried that at least once before you judged me. It’s feel good by knowing that your donation will help others. Yes, I should have left a couple bags for other but I knew my store always has more in the storage room:)

  22. Melissa says

    01/17/2011 at 6:15 PM

I don’t know about your Rite Aid store Charlene but the one that are close to mine are always low on their inventory. If there is 2 or 3 person tried to get the same deal (10 tissues) the shelf most likely will be empty. It takes me 45 minutes to drive to the store so there is no way I am going to get 1 or 2 tissues after my long drive ๐Ÿ™‚ If you get pay extra $3 back from buying 10 tissues why not buy 10? The big is issue is that Rite Aid should have stock more when it comes to a big sale like this ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes my RA store keep barely any on hand too which stinks. But I don’t think I would buy many anyway. I don’t like to have a lot of stuff personally. I start feeling overwhelmed. We just keep a few of everything and it seems to work out. I guess I buy 2 huge packs of TP about 3 times a year and that seems to last. I have a lot of cheese and Coffeemate on hand at the moment. Otherwise just a few of things is Ok for me.

Yulean–my comment wasn’t directed at you, just in general. i would just like to clarify what i meant… donation is great, i just have a problem with people clearing a store of inventory and then using “donating” as an excuse. i personally feel that some people use donating as an excuse to justify their greed. i’m not saying this is the case with you or anyone on this site, just my opinion. the fact of the matter is, all people who coupon are trying to stretch their money. so if one person takes all the inventory of an item for themselves, all those other people miss out on savings. everything in moderation…so maybe each week you could pick up a few extra items to donate. why the need to get it all?

and as far as the questioning of whether i donate or not…well, that is part of the problem i have. charity should be done in private. i have a real issue with people who feel the need to rush home and post about “how much they scored” and then say they donated most of it. and then to question others who take issue? just doesn’t sit right with me. again, i’m not trying to offend, just putting my opinions out there. thanks
