If you have a Facebook account you might want to look into the “instant personalization” that has started.
The new change shares your information with Facebook and non Facebook sites such as Bing, Trip Advisor etc…
You can read about this new feature here. If you decide you do not want to allow instant personalization on your account- it is very simple to remove:
- Go to Account on the top right hand side.
- Go to Privacy Settings
- Go to Apps and Websites and Edit Your Settings
- Go to Select edit settings on Instant Personalization
- UNCHECK the enable option.
If your friends do not do this, they will be sharing your information as well.
Thanks A Thrifty Mom!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe you can prevent your friends from sharing your info inadvertently by navigating to Account, Privacy Settings, Info Accessible Through Your Friends, then unchecking all of those boxes. That’s what I’ve done, anyhow.
I have no clue so I am sure you aren’t wrong ๐
Thank you so much for letting us know. I went right in there and changed it. I hadn’t heard they were doing this.
Thanks!!!! Done!
Thanks, I had heard about this but mine were not checked so maybe I already got it? I don’t know. I do know that facebook will automatically change it so from time to time you might want to double check your settings since I know mine have been reset more than once.
Like Elizabeth’s, mine were already unchecked. I actually made a mistake, checked it, and had to go back an uncheck it.
Thanks a million!
Wow, thanks so much for letting us know!
Thanks! I had no idea!
Thanks so much! I love your simple directions, they are really helpful!
Mine wasn’t disabled–husbands was. Not sure why, but thanks for the heads up.
