Amazon: Free $5 Video on Demand Credit for New Users

Yeah!  If you are new to Amazon’s Video on Demand program you can get a free credit of $5 toward movie rentals right now!

This is perfect timing for those of you in the terrible weather as you can rent brand new release movies right from your computer.  The movies range from .99-3.99 on average, so you should be able to get at least 2 movies with your credit.

You just head over here to request your credit- this is only for those that have not rented movies before– and it will be applied to your account.  Then you can go check out the Video on Demand section at Amazon and decide which movie you want to see.  You can rent it and most movies once you click to start them will have a 24 hour period to watch.  Once the 24 hours is up, you don’t have access to the movie.  There are no other fees and you can watch from your computer or my husband connects the laptop to our TV to watch.

I actually rent these for marathon cooking days in the kitchen, while I am folding laundry, writing letters, organizing coupons etc…

When you click to rent the movie your credit will instantly apply toward the total so you shouldn’t have to pay for the first $5 in rentals.

Here are the discounted movies for this weekend– they have Grown Ups at $1.99.

do you watch the movie on your PC or TV? When I looked before it seemed like you had to have special equipment….

Jennifer I play it on my laptop. I find the laptop to be a nice place to hide 🙂 No fighting over the remote and I can take it anywhere. I don’t need anything special it just plays. My husband will hook it up with a cord to the TV. I think you can stream it through video game consoles too? i haven’t checked on that.

I was wondering the same thing. How do you watch the movies. I will see if we can watch the movies through the Wii versus the computer. Thanks Charlene.
