My coupon for the chocolate chips didn’t work but after the cashier and a manager discussed it…they finally decided to give me the 50 cents off anyway.
Coupon for chocolate chips is limit 1 (and also says ‘per employee’?!?!?!) and it will not allow additional coupons to scan. Your results will vary depending in your checker overriding it or not.
Well stink. I am going to try this on my way to get the girls tonight. I don’t see how they can refuse the coupon but I can see limiting it to one.
I tried to use 3 coupons from the Thanksgiving coupon book and none of them worked. After looking at my reciept I believe only the .50 coupon I loaded to my safeway card came off. So Can you not use a paper coupon and the loaded coupons together?
No Debby you can’t. They put an end to that awhile back. You can read about the new program here:

The couldn’t get my coupon to scan at all it didn’t beep, it totally wouldn’t scan. They put them through for me though (2).
I tried this 3 times today. The first I was buying 3 chips and 3 marshmallows. Only the just 4 u coupons I had loaded came off. None of the scanned ones worked. So I told her okay I just want 1 of each. She voided the 1st transaction and rescanned one of each. That time the just 4 u for the marshmallows came off but not the chips? I was confused so I gave her a coupon for the chips and it wouldn’t scan either. She eventually overrode it but it took a long time!
The next time.. at a different store I was buying a bunch of stuff and the chocolate chips coupon again didn’t scan.
The 3rd time I went through the u scan and bought chocolate chips, marshmallows, and brown sugar. Only the marshmallow coupon scanned. The uscan attendant overrode the other 2… Looking at my receipt it looks like only two of them ended up being deducted 🙁
So anyways.. yeah… its a hassle but cheap chocolate chips in the end!
I think part of the problem is that in small print the coupon says it expires 11/30, however in big print on the top it days 12/31 so it takes an override.
I did it today. I got three bags and specifically asked if I could use three coupons. She said as long as it doesn’t beep it’s fine and it didn’t 😀
I should note we haven’t started the Just For U program where I am in SoCal so that might explain my lack of problems. Sorry ladies.
I was just going to post about the “per employee” part of the coupon too! I had problems today also but my cashier pushed them through. I was super excited about 3 bags for under $2!
You might want to double check your receipt. Mine doesn’t show the -$.50 on my receipt. It just shows the price adjusted. It has 3 chocolate chips for only $1.47. It is strange that it does that. Usually when they first scan the coupon it shows as -$.01, but it typically comes off at the end of the transaction. Hope this helps
I had a transaction the other day where I was using coupons from the Thanksgiving book, and the Safeway coupons showed up as discounted product price, and not as coupons at the end. I went over the receipt with a fine-tooth comb (and it was a long receipt), and realized that in some instances, one coupon cleared, in some, two, in others, none. All on the same receipt! All the ManQ’s scanned just fine. And I watched him scan the coupons – there was no sign that there was trouble with any of them. We don’t have JFU yet, either! After everything was said and done, I received nearly $10 back from customer service!
Lori- I have too look at my receipt. I don’t know what happened but I paid about $2.79. I bought 3 bags and they pushed the coupons through, 1 marshmallows at $1.29- .50 coupon and 2 cough drops at .79.
So less than I should have paid as well. The coupons scanned at .01 and they just fixed it so maybe they worked and I got double credit.
