If you are in the market for a DSI this year now is the time to pull the trigger!

Amazon is offering the orange or green DSI for $149 and that includes a $25 credit for games at the Amazon game store and Mario Party game.

The next best price will be at Best Buy on Black Friday for $149- that does not include the game credit and Amazon does not charge tax in 45 states.

This is not released until 11/26- but shipping is free.

**NOTE:  There will be tons of Amazon deals in the next few weeks and they will go FAST.  Some deals may not even last an hour.  You may want to check in with MFA a few times a day to be sure you don’t miss out.  If you see something you want, I would suggest you order it right away as items will sell out very quickly.

Thanks Saving with Shellie!

I believe the Nintendo DSi is always $149 isn’t it? The Nintendo DSi XL is $169 and I don’t believe that has changed either on any website. Is it the $25 game credit that makes this a good deal? Just wondering…

I am looking for a better price on the DSi XL other than $169, but haven’t found it yet.

Dana, this includes the Mario Party Game and you are getting a $25 dollar credit towards any video game. This is a great deal, I got it, I have been in the market to get my son a DS for awhile now.

I think it is a good deal. It is available from Walmart for $169 right now with 2 games. When I click on what they say is included in the pack- a DSI, an accessory and 2 games, my price jumped to $198. Then I pay $13 for shipping and $16 for tax. So now my total is $229.25.

Or I can pay $149 out the door from Amazon and pick out a free game valued at $25 or less in a few days.

or I can go to Best Buy on Black Friday and pay $149 for just the console and Mario. I will pay about $12.50 in taxes, I don’t get the extra game and they only promise to have a minimum of 12 per store.

So I am not a video game expert by any means but that seems good to me. If you find a better deal please let us know.

I bought it and I am super excited! Orange is my son’s absolute favorite color and with the two free games and no tax or shipping (Amazon prime!) I think this is a great deal! Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas!

Charlene it is a great deal, plus I don’t have to deal with the hassle of waiting in lines on black friday in the RAIN this year. I will just be doing Target now for a couple of games and toys to finish up shopping for my kids and Stride Rite at 8am to get winter boots at half price for my younger son…this just made my day WAY easier!

After reading all the comments, I went ahead and preordered! Total was $154 plus the $25 credit. My daughter will be thrilled! Thanks for “talking” it through with me!! 🙂 I appreciate all the comments!

I was wondering if you could help me see how this is a better deal than the DSI at target until tomorrow for $119? I bought the DSI at target Sunday but wondering if I need to return it? With a $25 game the price is still $144. You are awesome at deals, so I’m sure I’m missing something…..

Well poo Alexis that is a great price. Here is how I would look at it but I think either way is good:

    Target:
    $119 + $10 or so in tax= $129 for just the DSI

    Amazon:
$149- $25 in game credit= $124 plus you get the extra Mario game which is priced at $29.99 on Target.com.

I guess that is the easiest way I look at it. I see quite a few games priced at $27 or less on Amazon- so you should be able to get a free one with the credit.

So another way to look at it would be $149- $129= $20 difference between the two. So you pay $20 for 2 games essentially. Does that make sense?

Plus the Target one is only the white on sale, this way I also got the green which I know my son will be so excited about!

It will be $89 at Walmart on Friday!

Good job Amy- that is the DS Lite and they are on sale starting at 5am. Just the DS Lite- no games. For those that want to get to Walmart first thing you might get lucky. The ad says limited quantities and if I remember last year the video game consoles were sold out in minutes at most stores. I think if you want to try for the lower price you can always return the more expensive one.

We went to Walmart last year for XBox and got there two hours early. We still didn’t get one and our store had a total of 10 on hand. There were hundreds of people in line when we got there. This is a great price but the chances of actually getting one are pretty slim. Maybe others stores carry more stock but I won’t try to get any of the great Walmart doorbusters again. It was not worth getting to the store at 2am and waiting in the freezing cold to leave empty handed.

Also, you should be very clear about the differences between the DS Lite and the DSi (because your kids will be). The Lite is the older model, bulkier, smaller screen and most importantly dosen’t have the camera function and silly games which my kids LOVE. It also dosen’t have the internet connection, which is fine by me and very slow anyway. I think the difference between the DSi and the DSiXL is less noticable, more a question of screen size and bulkiness than any actual new functions.

We thought about both options and decided on Amazon. You are getting $50-60 in games for free with that deal and so it really makes the price difference pretty small. Tax in my state is 8.5% too so I would have paid about $97 for just the unit at Walmart and then I would have paid another $50 or so to get a few games.

I thought the Lite was the newer model, more portable than the old one. I am confused.

No, the lite is the older model, the DSi is the newer one. I live in a household of gamers, so I hear it all the time LOL.

Charlene, I did this deal and it shipped today, do you know where the $25 dollars shows up in your account when it is credited? Not sure where to look!
