I wanted to give you plenty of notice to prepare for this sale- tomorrow morning at 9am PST- Amazon will be offering the 2nd generation Kindle for $89. There are several stores running the Nook for $99 this year so this is Amazon’s response.
The 3rd generation Kindle seems to be staying firm at $139 but you never know!
I will have this posted with the link in plenty of time but I would suggest getting ready because I suspect these will sell out in minutes.
You can read about the newer Kindle here- priced at $139 and the 2nd generation Kindle here.
You can see Amazon’s announcement about the Black Friday Kindle sale on Twitter here.
Now for those of you that have any of these readers, we would love to hear your input!

*cry* But I want the 3rd generation. =) Still sounds like a great deal. I don’t own one, but I’ve been “looking”.
I have the newest generation of the Kindle and I love it. I’ve added over 100 books on it since I bought it in September. I’ve only paid for 3 of them, which I used with my Swagbucks. It is so much easier on my eyes than reading on a computer or phone screen or even a regular book. I’m reading a lot more now because it is so convenient and I have access to so many books instantly.
I got the 2nd gen as a gift, and for this bookworm, it’s the greatest gift ever! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Kindle. I love being outdoors in the summer and no matter how bright the sun gets there is NO glare on the screen. Also it’s not backlit which makes it as easy on your eyes as a regular book.
Ok, I was curious if people have iPads and Kindles or is that Apple overkill. It seems to me the iPad is a bit heavy and the Kindle seems easier to take with you everywhere.
The iPod Touch can also read Kindle books. I think the difference is that with the iPod Touch you’ll deal with the backlight and glare which Christy might be talking about.
I would love to snag one!
The Amazon website is terrible this year. I couldn’t get one. Thanks for the flash in the pan.. how about making this deal long enough so more than just a few people can take advantage of it? yuck.
Cheyenne, how did you download all of those books and only pay for 3??? I’m dying to get one for my mom form Christmas this year, but she swears by the library, and doesn’t like to pay for her books. Thanks!
Aubrey they offer free ones frequently on Amazon. I intend to do more roundups when they are available in the New Year. Also, many libraries will allow you to rent ebooks! You can look into that.
