You can see Safeway’s coupon policy right HERE. Most stores will allow you to stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons that can be found in the weekly circulars. You will want to be sure to get a club card for Safeway to take advantage of the sale prices! Safeway sale prices tend to vary from region to region so you will always want to double check your local ad! Also, I do not have double coupons in my area so your prices are likely much better than mine!

What great deals did you find this week?
NOTE: I did attend a seminar today on the new Just 4 U program. This has officially rolled out in IL, Nor CA and Hawaii. Right now I am still trying to figure out the best way to make this program work. So I will collect my thoughts and write a post soon.
Stacey says
I bought 4 Almond Accents for $1.49 each, and received 2 $1 catalinas AND a $1.50 coupon for 3 more bags of Almond Accents. So I rolled these cats/coupons multiple times to get several bags for about $.63 each.
Charlene says
Oh Stacey I totally spaced that last night! I think I am half senile with all the stuff going through my head. Thanks!
Chitra says
Thanks for the catalina deal info Stacey. There were tearpads next to the almond accents a month ago – 1$/2. They were priced at 3.99 or more , so I grabbed only a couple. I will have to try this and see.
Sarah H. says
The Frosted Mini Wheats are 1.99 with the in-ad coupon and I have a printable coupons.com $1/2 coupon. 1.49 isn’t a fantastic deal but my family eats a lot of these!
Charlene says
Yeah I need to increase my cereal buy price. I am such a cheapskate .50 seems high to me, but someone sent me a deal to get cereal for $1.99 a box after coupons recently 🙂 So I will starting including anything $1.50 or less.
Amy says
I was just thinking, where are the good cereal deals? I usually have quite a few boxes in my pantry and am down to just a few. I have 4 kids so we eat cereal like crazy here. And my buy price is .50 a box too Charlene, so I am going to be in trouble if we don’t see something soon!
Denise says
I wasn’t going to mention this because it is above my target price for cereal, but it seems we all might need to raise our buy price. There is a catalina on Fruity Pebbles (and related brands) – buy 4 and receive $3.00 off next purchase. They are B1G1 free at $3.89 each, which works out to $1.20 each after the catalina. I believe it ends on 11/7 (I have to find the printout).
Leah says
I also have been wondering where the cereal deals have gone. I also got a printout about the Post pebbles catalina. It expires 11/7 and is $2 if you buy 3, $3 if you buy 4 and $4 if you buy 5 or more. My ad has fruity pebbles at $1.99 so not that great of a deal. If there were some printable coupons that would help!
Nancy says
Hi, thanks for the matchups. I wondering about the final Hillshire lunchmeat price. Buy 5 @ $2.49 ea is approx $12.50. Save $5 instantly (= ~$7.50) and use 5 $1/1 qs for a final price of $2.50 for 5 (.50 each). Is my math right?
I actually shop Genuardis here in NJ… And all the cereal deals were at Acme last week though there is a GM catalina for free milk wyb 4 General Mills cereals. Don’t know if it works nationally though.
Charlene says
Nancy- that was just a typo from me. It should read $3.49- $1 promo – $1 coupon. So the final price was right at $1.49. $7.45 for 5 packs.
Courtney says
Charlene,
Did I miss the post… how did your meeting with Safeway go? I think we, here in Nor Ca should start a petition or something to get double coupon rights! Any thoughts?
Charlene says
Courtney. I don’t know how to be polite about my experience or even civil at this point so I am not posting until I can behave myself. 🙂 I suppose I can wrap it up by saying that the PR company emailed a nice thank you today and instructed everyone in attendance to check out a post by a blogger that was there. Her post was not positive by any stretch and had comment after comment complaining about service and such. We were supposed to look to that to learn more. So they clearly didn’t even bother to take 2 minutes to actually read a post she sent to them in an effort to communicate the high levels of frustration. They of course sent a follow up asking us to disregard the post- but honestly. Like pounding your head against a wall. I did “test” the service myself with a $50 gift card they provided to us. I can tell you I had one sad little bag of food and $7 left on my card. So I have to really take time and look at this program and figure out how to make it work from a consumer’s prospective and a blogger’s prospective.
Ashley says
ok, maybe i missed something… Did Safeway pull the cellfire, shortcuts and P&G E saver card coupons? I think I’m way behind on this, but now the only way to get coupons is through just 4 u. can anyone offer some insight? (**I kinda let my hubby take over shopping during my mid-terms so i’m not current on all my forum readings)
Charlene says
Ashley I am short on time right now so I will give you a Cliff Notes version.
No more e-coupons. Just 4 U is new and I haven’t posted about it quite yet. Personally as a consumer I think it is a headache and makes your shopping trip take ages longer. Don’t even get me started from a blogger perspective. They expect their coupon center to be the center of the universe for us. Everything is supposed to be loaded to your card and they feel cutting coupons is antiquated and too time consuming. We all know however that the loadable coupons almost never work. Also if they don’t work they expect that you will print out sheets and sheets of pages of what coupons are on your card and what deals you have etc.. and then you can sort through that mess at the checkstand and ask for a refund from your cashier “that has been trained to handle it immediately.” (Not even going to comment on that one.) Also, you have to be very careful because if you do load coupons onto your card and they have duplicate ones at coupons.com or red plum- well surprise you can’t print them because it will say your print limit is reached. So you remove the chance of using coupons anywhere else.
Oh and did I mention you go through and save a mess of special deals to your card. Those are your custom prices and are lower sometimes. Well guess what? It might say Ore ida potatoes 20-32 oz. Say you buy the Steam and Mash that are 24oz. Well they might not be included because your special price is for Ore Idea potatoes but it doesn’t say what kind. Oh and did I mention that your prices are only at the single store they want you to shop at? If you hit a second store that is close to your bank or something- well surprise! Your special prices don’t work there.
So you can see I am trying to work through my issues with this wonderful program ;P
Natalie says
Safeway has gotten so bad with all their coupon rules and their crappy customer service. I can’t even count on two hands the number of times I’ve had to return for cashier/coupon problems and have had to have them literally hand me money back that they gypt me on. Is it even worth it to shop there anymore? I’m rethinking what my favorite store is now.
Ashley says
Wow… they were my go to and now i’m re-thinking that. I loved that store because of all the good deals and coupons that i could use there… I’m a stay at home mom, and i’m in college full time and work at an in home daycare (i can bring my kids) part time… how in the world will i have enough time to do this new thing!? i appreciate all the time that you are spending to look into this to help us get the best deals tho 🙂 it is absolutely amazing!
Heather Bettis says
I found fun size M&Ms with .50/1 peelies. My Safeway doubles coupons so $1 per bag. I also tried the almond accent deal. I bought 3 bags, got a $1 cat and the $1.50 coupon off next purchase of 3. The string cheese on sale in my area is stringsters, which had $1 peelies making them $1.49 a bag.
Courtney says
Thanks Charlene for all you do…
I think if Safeway at least offered the double coupons we could cope with the other disappointments. I have to wonder why we are seemingly the only area at a disadvantage. Guess I will be shopping at other stores primarily.
Chitra says
Charlene,
I did the lean pockets deal today and the price is showing up as 1.50 after the In Ad coupon in my receipt. I am happy about the lower price and not complaining, but just wanted to know if anyone else did the deal. If it’s 1.50, then I am stocking up, since buying 2 at a time with the .50 cents Q , it will cost me 75 cents per pack .
Charlene says
Chitra- did you register for Just for u? That would be your low price for Lean Pockets if it is under your personal deals on Just4U. I can’t look that up because the price is different for each individual. If it is your low price than you need to continue to shop at the exact same store and you can buy as many as you like for the next 90 days and get that price.
Denise says
Just read your take on Just4U and find it interesting since another blogger was much more positive about it after the same meeting (now I need to search out the one that wrote something negative). We only have Safeway and Lucky in my town, so I might need to consider driving 20 miles roundtrip to Raleys since it sounds like they are coupon friendly. Thanks for all your hard work and honesty!
Charlene says
Denise- it could just be that I am cranky in my old age 😉
Chitra says
Charlene,
No. I did not register for Just for you. I normally go to Pavilions dot com, since that is my SW store here and did not see anything about this program. I tried the same deal again today and I saw the 1.50 price again. I read that some Arizona stores had the price as 1.50. I am really happy with this deal and will try to do it again and again till Tuesday. If I have more Qs, I will try after the sale ends and see if goes back to the old price again.
Scott Porter says
Had great luck today with the 6 pack Lucern yogurts — they are on sale $2.50/6. The refrig./freezer Safeway coupon book (it says something about $70 on the front) has a $1/1 six pack coupon (expires 10/31!) — I have registered for Just 4 U and these are ringing up at $0.49!!! I did it two time at two different stores (4 times total) and it worked. We have yogurt!! (for a week, I have 5 hungry kids).
