Home Depot has a series of free workshops available in September on topics like decorative flooring, painting, gardening and more. If you are doing any fall projects around the house, you can check out the list here.
Our energy bills are just appalling so I signed my husband up to take the eco-options class and hopefully get some tips to save energy and money.

I know this post is about Home Depot and not about energy savings for your home. I also know you are in Sacramento and I am in Connecticut. But, does you utility company have an energy audit program? Our electric company does. We pay $75 for a team to come to our house and check everything that could be an energy drain (even if you have gas or oil heat and water). We are a newer home, and therefore very energy efficient, so they didn’t do much to our house. My friend had her 25-yr-old house done. The team of 4 guys worked from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM insulating, caulking, changing incandescent bulbs to cfls, etc. And gave her a list of recommendations for more energy efficient appliances and such. The electric company pays the contractor for labor and materials. It is a really wonderful program.
