Just to update the Safeway deals post for the week, two of the items listed are actually better than I thought.
In my ad, Arm & Hammer was featured at $1.49 and says Buy 3, Save $3. I was thinking the $1.49 price was after the discount but it is actually before the discount. So without any coupons, your total winds up being .49 each.
Apparently there are some stores that do not have these marked properly on the shelf- so you might take the ad with you just in case you run into any problems.
There are .75/1 or $1/1 coupons in the 8/22SS or 6/20 SS or you can print a $1/1 coupon here- so this should be free or better than free after coupons.
(Once you purchase your toothpaste, be sure to check inside the box and see if you spot more coupons.)
UPDATED 8/10: I think Safeway caught this error. I found these priced at $1.49 at my store after discount so they either only had a few stores with them priced incorrectly or they caught the mistake pretty quickly and corrected it. This is still a great price at .49 after $1 coupon when you buy 3.

Barilla Pasta is listed in the ad at $1 per box. Reader Scott confirmed that the Piccolini is included in the sale and there is a .75/1 coupon in the 8/29 SS. So these are .25 a box or for those with high doubles, free! Watch the catalina machines because Scott got a $2/3 coupon for more Piccolini- so that makes 3 more boxes just $1 total.

Apparently some areas have the 4lb bags of boneless, skinless chicken on sale this week for $1.99/lb. This was not listed in my ad and online they are priced at $2.75/lb so you may or may not find this price in your store.
If they are marked at $7.96/ bag- use the $2/1 coupon here and pay $5.96 a bag or $1.49 a pound!
See the complete list of weekly deals here.
Thanks Yin, Scott and Kate!

I went today and they were $2.49. There were no signs for the buy 3, save 3. When I went to the register it rang up for $1.49 each when I buy 3. I went to customer service but the manager wasn’t there. A few people were waiting in line so I decide to head home. Should I go back to safeway to get my $3? I know in the ad it doesn’t say the $1.50 is before the $3 savings, but my safeway will probably argue it is after.
In my safeway store, they refused to stack manufacturer’s and safeway coupon for Welch’s juice. And for Arm & Hammer, they said $1.50 price is valid only when you buy 3, otherwise it is $2.50 and $3 savings is only when you buy 3 at $1.50, instead of usual $2.50. Overall, didn’t have pleasant experience today. 🙁
Pratima- the Welch’s stinks. I bet if you try a different cashier next time it would work. Hopefully you don’t just have a stink store altogether. For the Arm and Hammer that is correct you need to buy 3. Was that not clear in the post? Buy 3 and Get $3 off which makes them .49 and then use the coupons to get them free?
Michelle, Well it is up to you. I am assuming you bought 3 and paid .49 each after coupons? If you want to go back to customer service and you have the ad that says Buy 3 and Get $3 off and your receipt they will hopefully give you $3 back. If your store had them priced at $2.49 and the Buy 3 got you down to $1.49- than I don’t know if they owe you money or not. Did your ad look the same as mine with the $1.49 price listed?
I went to my Safeway and they rang up $1.49 also, and didn’t get the $3 off. I will be heading back there tomorrow 🙁 I did use the Welch’s $1.50 coupon and a $1.50 Safeway e-coupon and it came off, so I ‘m happy about that.
Ok Diana, let me know how it goes. And if they won’t give you the $3 maybe check one other item in the ad and just see how it is listed on the shelf tag. I initially thought it was $1.49 after the promo but I heard from several people that it was $1.49 BEFORE so who knows. I am going to try to go to Safeway myself tomorrow if I can ditch the kiddos 🙂
I wanted to update you on the Safeway Home delivery. I ordered yesterday and had it delivered this morning and he was right on time. And I wanted to let you know that my e-coupons did come off! I tested it with a bottle of the Bertolli and 2 of my .50 off coupons came off. I believe those are from Cellfire. Before I placed my order it looks like they might be promoting the online coupons with delivery orders because they have a link on the delivery page website. Hope this helps you out.
the $3 off deal did not work for me at the Del Paso Store in Sacramento. The person at customer service said that the toothpaste normally sells for $2.49 so the discounted price is $1.49 each. Just an FYI.
Catherine- I have to update because I checked as well at my store and it was $1.49 after discount. I think either Safeway caught the error early or only a few stores had the mistake in pricing. I saw signage from someone that got the deal and it was clear as day marked at $.49 plus I heard from a few people that actually did it and got overage.
Yeah! So glad to hear it Nicole! I just love Cellfire- they always work for me 🙂
I was at Safeway on Tuesday night at Pleasant Grove and the bags of chicken were not marked down, but at the register they rang up for $7.99/bag.
Ok Christal- they were marked $9.99 in Rocklin too but I will grab a bag and check next time I shop.
Found this yesterday… tried it today and it worked!!! OMY!!!

Already had it on my list, and didn’t see the update. My Arm & Hammer was $1.49 in the ad… buy 3 save $3. The shelf was marked $2.49/”$1.49 buy more and save $3 on three.” I tried it, but customer service said it was taking the $3 off already bringing it down to $1.49. I didn’t pull out the ad to show them… just returned them.
When I used my $2.00/3 Barilla catalina from last weekend’s Picollini purchase (so I paid $1 for 3) I received another $2.00/3 Barilla catalina !
