Here is another great Groupon for today (and I bet more come along!)
You can get 4 tickets to a movie for just $20! This is a voucher from Groupon that is a little confusing but I believe what happens is that you buy the Groupon and you take your code to Weeklycinema.com. They have a subscription service for movie tickets- but don’t worry- you have zero obligations.
Then they give you a code or something that is redeemed at Fandango or movietickets.com.
So a little extra effort but according to the Groupon, you can redeem this at “most movie theaters.”
I would have a look at Fandango and be sure there is a theater in your area first. You can redeem all 4 at once or divide them up. Each of your 4 tickets is worth a real movie ticket of $14 or less. The tickets expire 12/23.
To get this deal just head over and log in or register at Groupon.
Click on View More Cities in the top center of the screen.
Select Salt Lake City and purchase your voucher!
You should be able to go back to Groupon account in about 24-48 hours and click on “My Stuff” and you will have a voucher will instructions waiting!

where on Fandango site does it say your theater accepts the groupon tickets?
Charlene says
Michelle- it doesn’t. If I read the offer correctly- Groupon is working with weeklycinema. they in turn, work with fandango. So if you go direct to fandango you will miss out on the offer entirely because this is not an offer from Fandango it is from weeklycinema.
This is what I read on Groupon:
Expires Dec 23, 2010
Must redeem Groupon at WeeklyCinema.com by 12/23/10. Tickets must be redeemed via Fandango or MovieTickets.com within 90 days of Groupon redemption. No cash value. No cash back. Not valid with other offers.
So just to be clear you have 3 steps. Buy from Groupon. Enter the groupon voucher at weeklycinema. Weeklycinema gives you a code for Fandango.

I used this last time around and thought it was great. Really, the best thing to do is watch the YouTube video. Otherwise, it just takes too much time to figure it out.
If I remember correctly, you order the tickets then the next day you get an email saying they’re available. You follow the link, copy the code, go to Fandango, search for the theater and movie you want, select “Buy Tickets”, then put in your code. There’s a little box you have to check to say that you’re using a special code. If you don’t, it will ask for your cc.
Kind of convoluted, but worth it. The only thing I’m a little frustrated with is that I bought two packages of four tickets–8 tickets total. I can only find evidence of one package even though I have a receipt that says I paid for two. Still have to call them and figure it out.
Overall, definitely worth it since the cost of movie tix is obscene.

It is a bit more trouble, but I went and looked around weeklycinema.com and they offer a subscription for 4 movies a month for 19.99. Same price as the groupon. I guess the one difference is you have to cancel the subscription, but according to the website you can cancel at anytime and even if you forget to cancel and they charge your card they are willing to refund you the prorated amount for the tickets (fandango codes) you didn’t use.
I know there are some movies coming out during the holidays we would like to see so we will be definitely taking advantage of $5 movie tix this Nov and Dec.

Laura, I want to really look into this before I post about it. I was thinking the Living Social and Groupon deals would be a good way to test the service out before I recommend it. So far 2 complaints 🙂
