Safeway Trip

08/12/2010

Share

I got $17 in rebate checks this week so I decided to make a quick Safeway run.  (And I fear a coup d’etats because we ran out of milk last night.)

So here is what I did:

2 gallons milk $2.59 each
Bread $1.50- used $1 coupon
Broccoli $1.61- Used $1 off produce coupon
peas $1.69
Top Round $5.60-1.68 clearance coupon= $3.92
2 Pillsbury Sweet Moments $1.99 with in ad coupon- used (2) $1/1 printables and had $2.75 come off in e-coupons
(I think an extra Pillsbury e-coupon came off- that is why I always save all the Cellfire coupons because you just never know!)
5 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks .99 each- used (2) $.50/2 coupons and had $2 in e-coupons come off

Total was $13.08 and I used a $5 catalina- paid $8.08 and got $3 cat back for the Fruit Snacks! So basically got all the junk food free plus overage to pay for the good stuff.

Did anyone else have a good trip this week?

Plus I got a $3 Cat and a $3.50 Cat for my next trip!!!!!

If you look at your receipt, what does it say about the $1 produce coupon? I got the watermelon and that coupon value said $0.00 and the ecoup did not come off. I also had a $1 off Natures pride coup that did not come off, is there anything I can do?

I had a great trip too. 5 fruit snacks, 4 vaselines, 1 PB Sweet moments, 2 apple juices, 2 fiber one bars, 1 nut clusters, 2 Farmer Brown breakfast sausage, 1 Tide, 3 Safeway pastas. Total $16.00 and I got $4.50 back in catalinas plus a coupon for a free Bright Green Product. I saved $68.55 or 82%. Thanks so much for all your match ups and scenarios.

I had a great trip today! I did a few different transactions at the self checkout to up the catalinas…here’s what I got.

8 betty crocker fruit gushers
4 fruit roll ups
3 nature valley granola bars
2 fiber one bars
1 box Kix cereal
1 mini watermelon
1 can cream of chicken soup (not on sale..but i needed it)

for my 4 transactions I paid a total of $3.01….and I still have 5.50 left in catalinas. So basically I made $2.49 on all this. (on the 3rd and 4th transactions I used the catalinas I’d just earned to pay for items. The combo of ecoupons and print ones did me well this week! and I’m potty training my son…and his treat for going is fruit snacks, so I can never have enough of these right now.

thanks for posting your match ups! wouldn’t have known all the deals without them.

@Angela- the e-coupons you have to contact the company for the e-coupons and see what is wrong. I am having a terrible time with the Safeway ones but the others I don’t have problems with.

My receipt says produce coupon .00 under the broccoli and then when I look at the bottom it says Produce -$1.00.

That was with a checker and it was the same last time at UScan. This is my 3rd time using the coupon.

My produce coupon didn’t work (@ self checkout) I had to have the lady come over and put it in for me…

Where do you get the $1 off produce coupon? Is it an ecoupon from Safeway?

Jessica August 13, 2010 at 6:41 AM

The produce coupon is in a coupon book that I found near the bacon/hotdogs. It rang up as a penny off, but I caught it and the cashier put it in correctly.

I bought 20+ boxes of fruit snacks,20+ boxes of granola bars and 4 nut clusters. I heart moneymakers!

Where is the bread coupon from? Is it from the MS coupon book? I didnt’ see any at my safeway yesterday. :(

I also had a amazing trip, the cashier was quite suprised when he told my savings of $ 102.00 and i spent $53.00

Hi Charlene,

I have been hesitating to sing up for cellfire because of the fear of unwanted text messages on my cell phone. But from you post, I see I missed out on a lot! Do you get any unwanted advertising to your cell phone?

Was so happy this week. This is what I got
10 granola bars
8 fruit snacks
7 box ceral
20 yogurts
2 ready to cook cookie dough
1 nut cluster
1 soft soap
1 chex mix
total $2.71 out of pocket and came home with $2 cat. It was great!

Charlene August 13, 2010 at 9:20 AM

Oh Lori I have never once had an unwanted message but then again I used my home phone when I registered :) I am quite sure I would have heard about it by now if they were sending people texts. I don’t think they do that. You are really missing out by not registering.

quick question, can we use catalinas that we got from safeway and use it at other grocery stores like savemart?

Alison August 14, 2010 at 7:05 PM

For the cellfire question above: I signed up with my cell phone number and I have not gotten any text messages. There are some other coupons that you can send to your phone but since I don’t have texting… I just use the grocery ones and it works out great. I just have to go on every once in awhile to add the coupons! I am sorry I waited for so long :)

You guys did great! That’s some serious coupon shopping. We don’t have Safeway here, we have Tom Thumb…owned by the same company. I shop there every week….know all the meat dept guys by name and have one cashier I go to who chats with me like we’re old friends. I always get great bargains in Tom Thumb. Yesterday I got Safeway club soda, Safeway linguine, two Lipton Rice dishes,Purina One dogfood, Iams dog food,Anytizer chicken strips,3 strip steaks (marked down of course),Seapak frozen butterfly shrimp, petitie scallops, bananas, apple slices and a Tombstone pizza…grand total $25!
