Tax Free Shopping Weekend (Select States)

There are several states that have sales tax free shopping weekends coming up in August.  Each state will have guidelines for what purchases qualify but I thought I’d post the list by state for your reference.  If you have any big purchases this might save you a little bit extra- West VA for example has up to $5000 in Energy Star products that qualify!

I am sure my California readers will be utterly shocked to find that our state does not participate in tax free weekends.

hah! I think NY doesn’t have sales tax. I know that CA doesn’t charge tax on certain things but I noticed the .05 cent deposit charge which makes no sense @ all. seriously. CA i’m learning is an expensive state to live in no joke.

It does look like Kohls is giving an extra 10% off as way of giving you tax free Aug. 6-8! Only in California! I would suggest calling your store to get more details!

In TX, our family gets up early on Sat. (although it starts Friday night, now) and we all shop together. Best, Best deals on kids clothes, pretty good shoe deals. I use Gap & Old Navy cards to sweeten the deals.

Tax free weekend is a madhouse (I live in TX)…..unless you are buying a LOT of stuff, it’s not worth fighting the crowds….you have to spend $100 to really see a good savings. My “baby” is 18 now so it’s a thing of the past for me….and I’m glad! but to anybody doing it, you really need to get an EARLY start.
