Shopping Trip $61

07/03/2010

Here is my its a party edition of the weekly shopping!  We are hosting a 4th of July BBQ so I had to pull together a somewhat last minute menu and try to stay close to our $50 budget.  Usually I try to plan in advance for parties which helps keep the budget down but right now things are pretty harried over at the MFA house.

Also, I planned to buy several items at Costco and can you believe they closed at 6pm on a Saturday?!  So everything was from Raley’s and CVS this week.

Click below to see the breakdown

CVS: .22
BenGay $5.99- Used $3 printable
2 Powerbars .99-
Orajel $1.62 on clearance- used $1 coupon (FYI this works great for adult toothaches too!)
2 24pks CVS water $1.98 + $1.20 CRV each (because it is already so cheap to live in CA)
Reese’s 8 pk $1.50
Used $4/20 coupon, $10 ECB + $3.50 ECB- paid .22 tax
(I actually bought another CVS water to use the $4/20 but the limit was 2 so it rang up at $3.49. I returned it for a refund and got my money back.)
Got $2 ECB for Ben Gay and $1.98 for Powerbars back.

Raley’s: $61

2 Doritos .99 each
2 Jamba Juice Smoothies $2.79- used (2) $1 coupons
Goldfish $1.59- used .55/1 peelie
Wheat Bread $1.69
Raley’s Eggs $1.49
Condensed Milk $2.79
Graham Crackers $2.39
Whipping Cream $1.69
2 Yo Plus $1.50- used (2) .50 coupons
Bacon Cheddar Burger Patties $2.23 (on clearance)
Boneless Chicken Breast $5.01
Garlic Bread- free with store coupon
French Bread $1.99
Corn .40
Organic Grape Tomatoes $2.99
4 Limes $1
Mushrooms $2.29
Watermelon $2.77
Jose Cuervo $12.99 (Watermelon Margaritas!)
3 Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade $1.25 (Non Margarita people)
2 gallons milk $5.58

Grand Total was $61.02

I don’t think I will need to do any more shopping this week because we can not close the refrigerator at this point. If you are curious about what I plan to make stay tuned tomorrow for the menu plan!

ha! love the comment about the CRV..i hate that too! i always forget to include it in my pre-shopping calculations..throws me off when it’s time to pay

I also missed Costco because of their hours yesterday! Going to try to get Cascade at CVS, cause the coupons expired, too. I was also going to buy M&Ms for the fourth. I’m pretty sure I’m going to stay away from the M&M deal at CVS, though. Don’t have enough coupons to cover buying 20.

Yeah, I think Costco always closes at 6 on Saturdays. I can’t believe how often I looked at the clock on a Saturday only to realize that I would never have time to get there before the close.

Too funny. I hear you on CRV..got a great deal at target on soda this week and then swallowed my horror at the crv. Yikes! Gotta love CA!

Costco always closes at 6 on Saturday…lame huh?! That’s typically the day people have time to shop!

Watermelon Margaritas sound delicious!

I live in MT so we have no sales tax and no CRV. If we ever move I’ll be completely screwed because I’d never remember those.

So does the CRV count as part of the 20 for the 4/20 coupons at cvs?

Since my husband works for Costco I can attest that, as a company, they feel families are very important, and try to give their employees time to spend with their families, closing earlier on the weekends, and closing on holidays. I certainly appreciate it, but I have also been on the other side wishing they were open a little later on Saturday when there was something I needed to get. Overall, it has it’s quirks, but a great company for members and employees I’d say.

Awwww bummer! I did however did ok (I think) I got a coupon at the scanner for $5 off $20 cvs brand purchase plus a 50 cent ecb so I stocked up on all my paper products! So $15 bucks for an 8 roll pack of paper towels, 2/100 count paper plates (bogo), 2 packs of plastic cups 1 box of sandwich bags and 1 bag of candy for the kiddos , not great but Im stocking up for my boys birthday party now. LOVE CVS!!
