Reader Clearance Finds: Staples & TRU

Reader Heidi passed on a great deal she found at Toys R Us this week.  They are having an extra 25% off clearance items- making some items up to 75% off.

She found Seventh Generation cleaning products for $1.98- the extra 25% made them $1.48 and there are tons of $1 off coupons. She paid .48 per item!

*I posted this clearance deal months ago so I don’t know if this was just super old inventory or if they are having another round of clearance!  The Health and Beauty and Food areas of TRU/BRU are usually full of all sorts of treasures- so if you are planning a trip it is worthwhile to look around!  Remember- the majority of the time items are priced higher than they actually ring up so worth scanning things.

****

Reader Amy went to Staples this week and found boxes of Keurig K-Cups on clearance for $6.30.   She used the $10/25 Office Depot coupon to buy the  rebate items and the KCups and basically got it all for free!

Be sure to check clearance aisles at your stores if you are planning a trip.

Thanks ladies!

We were at Staples last night with the $10/25 Office Depot coupon, after calling ahead to see if they would accept it, which they said they would… however when we came up to the register with a cart full of stuff (primarily penny items, as well as several of the $1 items and even had a $7 pack of manila folders) were told they would not accept the office depot coupon on “those” items. They said they would only accept a competitors coupon on FULL PRICE items… and were given a long lecture about how hard it is for them to use competitors items, blah, blah, blah. Anyone know if there is an official Staples coupon policy in regards to this, or if anyone had the same issue?

Awesome! I actually found some good items on clearance this week at Walgreens. I got a box of photo coasters for $3 – and it will make a perfect holiday gift! They also have Hannukah gift bags for $1 (in another month or so, these will go back up to $4 each) and a 3-pack of pregnancy tests for $5.

Rebecca- now that would make me angry especially after calling ahead to check. I can tell you that I can’t even count how many times I have used coupons on rebate items. Also I heard a few people had trouble at Office Depot but I don’t think I heard any Staples complaints this week. Usually Staples is much easier. You can try to call and complain to the customer service line- I remember looking for a coupon policy awhile back and basically had to get it in store with someone telling me the policy 🙁

I think the BRU/TRU clearance is a new round. I have been in our BRU several times because we have a new baby and I always check out clearance. I happened to be there yesterday and they had TONS of clearance racks, including summer toys (bubbles and swim stuff). Unfortunately I had all 3 kids with me and one complaining about a tummy ache, so I didn’t get to check much out 🙁

I think everyone else has better markdowns at their TRU…many of the items marked “clearance” were scanning at more than the marked price at my TRU! The only good deals I saw were on some clothes which had pink stickers on them and were actually marked down–they rang up at almost 90% off after the 25% additional off. I am reluctant to even go in my store because I tried to use an internet printable coupon last fall and they said they don’t take internet printable coupons…

My huby works as a manager at our local TRU and they always have awesome clearances. The Seventh Generation stuff was clearanced and so was the Method cleaning supplies (some of them). I got a good deal on some Safety 1st products because they were BOGO 50% so I ended up getting my second item for less than $3 dollars when it was originally $14.99. Awesome deals plus his discount it really makkes it worth it sometimes. And P.S. Jennifer. Thaat really sucks about IP because when I asked him what their coupon policy was he said that if it scans they’ll take any coupon (as long as its for the right product of course) regardless of where you got it.

I just had a trip to TRU and found amazing clearance prices on toys and natural hygiene and cleaning products. You can read about it on my blog. I got some free Kiss My Face toothpaste for the kid.
