Ok I as promised I did a test run of the Walgreens Register Rewards at Safeway– and Score!
Since my Wags store is wiped out of everything I would have liked to buy (which of you did it?) I got the Gillette razor- I paid $6.71 with tax and got a $5 RR back.
I headed over to Safeway and got grapes, sour cream and peppers- total was $6.99 and I used the $5 Register Reward! The U Scan was the only register open and I scanned it and it required approval (high value coupons always do) and the cashier looked at it and pushed ok and I was done! This is really awesome and I can’t wait to hear how this works for you guys.
I had to hit CVS and got (3) free Skinny Cow plus they still had lots of makeup on clearance. I got L’Oreal Infallible lipstick and the Bare Naturale powder for $5.02 total including tax. I think these items were over $20 retail so a great deal!
That is a great price for the nicer drugstore stuff so keep an eye out at your store for clearance stickers!
Boy, I really hope this works for me too, I always have too many rr’s and have trouble using them all. It will be so great if I can use them on groceries. This just seems too good to be true (no offense) This is going to kill walgreens.
That is so exciting! You could go score free items @ WG after coupons, then take your RR to pay for produce at Safeway…. so cool!

I also got the Skinny Cow ice creams but at Safeway, they had them 4 for $5 so, I paid 25 cents each. Skinny Cow ice cream is not on sale at my CVS (Sacramento area) , they are at 1.69 each actually…

Well I could score free stuff if my store wasn’t always wiped out 😛 I needed a razor like a poke in the eye. Next week will be great because I still have Nivea coupons.
I am so anxious to get out there and try this, but I think I will hit another Wags to see if I find what I want.

i just can NOT imagine my safeway letting me use a wags RR. they don’t even like regular coupons. Today I was given grief about a Safeway coupon! Most of the cashiers at my safeway r rude and there’s certani people I won’t even go to anymore.
OK, so i just read your post about safeway’s new policy printed online! i have been carrying around the old one but still go grief about things so i am REALLY psyched about most of it! But now the page on the website disappeared. the link u have isnt working and wehn i go to the site and click on “coupon policy” it says that the page cannot be found 🙁 Maybe they’re changing it again? who really knows. Thanks for all your work on this!!!
I am able to use RR at my Harris Teeter. I have had one store in my area accepts them, the other store doesn’t so I believe it depends on the manager. It is worth a shot, though, because sometimes I’m just too tired to try to work out a RR deal at Wags!
OK…so somebody please help me in slow motion how all this works…Like I have a $2.00 RR from walgreens that I got from buying cereal this week…I can take those RR to Tum Thumb and use like just like any other coupon?! OR do I have to buy the same cereal I bought at Wags?! Please help me understand….I have some great coupons that Wags printed out days ago for some Cover Girl make-up for $5.00, $4.00, and $2.50 off 1 any Cover Girl and $4.00 of any Duracell batteries…PLEASE HELP ME
worked for me! i talked to the store manager and then used my $23 of RRs and catalinas from giant. sweet!!
Elizabeth, If they say “Get $2 off your next transaction” as they should than you can go to Tom Thumb and buy most anything except tobacco, dairy, lottery tickets etc… Sometimes those Wags makeup RR are for more makeup so just read the RR. Otherwise there is no reason at all that you would need to continue to buy the same products- you can buy whatever you want. This is BRAND NEW though and I expect some stores might not be fully trained in the new coupon policy. Maybe you can go buy a few small things like I did and just test it and see what happens? You can print the coupon policy from Safeway.com and take it with you.
So if you have 5 different RR’s coupons I can use all 5 in one transaction? That’s crazy!–woohoo!

Am I understanding this right? You can use RR at Safeway? Only at Safeway? Doesn’t the RR say redeem only at Walgreens?
