Safeway Coupon Policy Update (Again)

06/21/2010

Share

Well the good times didn’t last for long!

Safeway has issued a retraction to the new coupon policy and they have announced they WILL accept competitors catalina coupons for specific products only.  They will NOT accept Register Rewards.

So what that means is that if you are in a Walgreens store, for example, and a catalina prints out for $1 off Pampers diapers.  You may take that coupon and use it at Safeway.  If you purchase something like Pampers at Walgreens and it generates a Register Reward for $2 off your next transaction you CAN NOT use that at Safeway.

See the rest of the coupon policy HERE.

Also if you live in the state of Hawaii only, check out the new program they have available HERE and HERE.

Thanks Mary and Diana!

Thanks for the link! It’s a great program- prices are guaranteed for 90 days! Lots of time to stock up and order coupons.

Hopefully expands to your area soon!

That’s a huge bummer!!!

Awww boo! I never even got to use one at my Vons. I was sooo excited because I have like $40 in RR’s that I had kept for this very reason. THanks for the update!!!

I love that picture! That’s just how I feel. I am happy that I got to do it once though … and when I had $23 in RR!!

Well, it was nice while it lasted! LOL!! I got my $40 worth of groceries from RR this week. Oh well! :) I’m not surprised, though! They did really scrutinize my RR tonight (the $10 Neutrogena one) Thanks for the update!

And I think your pic is SOOOO appropriate for this post! :(

Catherine June 21, 2010 at 8:30 PM

I’m glad I got to use the $10 RR that I had last week. Thanks for the update!

Awww! It seemed too good to be true! Made me look at the Walgreens sales a bit more closely, but they are so complicated with using RR’s at Walgreens, I’ll stop now. :(

Boooooo!! Just glad I used $20 of RR’s last week! It seemed too good to be true anyway.

I’m glad I got to do it once. Really wish I had gone back and bought more chicken with my RRs! I guess I don’t have to worry about finding the neutrogena at my walgreens any more!

Bummer. I’d rather enjoyed being able to use the Walg RR at Safeway. There wasn’t a ratio of items to coupons/exclusions to think about. That’s too bad. I’m definitely not going to be “excited” about Walgreens shopping much “again”.

My Safeway would not let me use an internet BOGO either. I thought that was different than the “free” coupon.
