Charlene, I am a long time follower first time poster. Of all the “frugal/coupon” sites I’ve seen yours is the absolute best. I am a teacher, and I especially love how you stress following rules and doing the right thing. After many months of just following all your great deals I finally got my coupons together for Rite Aid and went to get my deals. I had previously received my Wellness Card, and I also had Video Values Coupons in addition to Manufacturer’s and In-Store. I followed your advice, went in the evening and waited for the cashiers to be empty – no lines, or customers at all.
Problem #1 – “We only take one coupon per item. You can’t use In-Ad and Manufacturer’s coupons together.” Even when I asked her to look at the policy, she would not.
Problem #2 – I took all my coupons back, and only wanted to purchase a $3.69 item w/ and In-Ad coupon of $3.00. The cashier was so nasty, “you’re only paying .69 fir tgis”. In total 3 different Rite Aid employees between 2 stores told me this wrong policy (including a manager): We only take a Manufacturer’s coupon with an In-Ad coupon when the circular states, ” use coupon in most Sunday papers.”
What a mess. Wrong information, nasty attitudes, my 12 year old daughter embarassed, and I didn’t get any of my deals I spent so much time putting together. I called corporate and made a complaint, the rep was sooooo understanding. I am now going to try at a third Rite Aid. At the rep’s suggestion I called the store ahead and asked all the necessary questions and they kept checking the written policy and assured me I could use all my coupons. I don’t want to be “that crazy coupon lady” I just want the deals I can legitimately put together. My question now is when do you think the first two stores will be aware of the correct policy? Those are the stores closest to me, I’ve always shopped there but now that I want to save money is when I’m having trouble. I will be carrying the printout of the policy with me, which BTW is still the most updated one as confirmed by the corporate rep today. Thanks Charlene!

Hey Thanks Sandra!!
Let’s see. This is my opinion only and I think I tend to be a little pessimistic maybe? Anyhoo- I have done the drugstore game for maybe 3 years or so now. My opinion on when stores will change is that you wait until those employees quit or get fired ๐ If someone has the attitude that they won’t even look at the coupon policy you are trying to show them, well I just don’t see a radical change happening.
I personally don’t need the drama so I simply stop shopping at stores that are a pain. I rarely go to RA actually because I drive across town to avoid any headaches and they REALLY have it make it worth my while to get me to do that. So if you really want to make Rite Aid work, I guess you can just get your scenarios together and be sure you are following everything exactly according to their guidelines. (My scenarios usually do but sometimes I make mistakes). Then I would have the RA phone number on hand- I would call them from the store if you have any hassles at all. Remember to shop when customer service is available!
I have found that employees tend to remember certain customers. If you hand them the phone with a customer service rep and the rep corrects them on the phone I have a feeling that might not endear you to the employee but maybe will get them to stop pulling the stank attitude when you try to shop.
I just did this yesterday at Macy’s. I had a pair of pants from online to return and they did not arrive with a tag. They were Nike Dry Fit pants which is exactly what the packing list said and they stank lady was trying to tell me they weren’t the same thing. I called Macys.com right from the line while she was trying to argue (I just didn’t even have time to hear her nonsense- they were exactly the same pants) and they got her to hurry up and process the return.

I wanted to mention a couple of things that the corporate rep said today during a complaint I made. He said that In-Ad and Video Values coupons are considered Rite Aid coupons and that you can only use one – no stacking both on an item. I then noticed the Zegerid example in this week’s circular page 9 (zip 11420) that actually does exactly that. The rep was VERY surprised, he was almost speechless and told me that it clearly goes against the policy (there is still no Wellness/Up Rewards/Video Values written policy according to him) That example would be only for that product that week, according to the rep. The other things he confirmed that the Rite-Aid employees seem to be confusing is that the 5-off-20 or the 5-off-25 are to be applied at the beginning of transaction before other coupons, and that Up rewards can be used anytime. I know you have been clear on these last two points, but I just thought I would re-confirm your already VERY accurate information. Thanks for all your hard work!

On the Gillette body wash deal, if you have the $4/2 coupon it comes out to a $1.01 money maker ๐ Also, if you get your P&G coupon book from Rite Aid (mine was in the mail today) there is a $2/1 Herbal Essences coupon, so another money maker!
Kahra says
Isn’t there an AdPerk coupon for $1.00 off Scrubbing Bubbles? So that would make it $.99! Also, I found the Target coupon for the toothpaste I emailed you about, and there was a man q in an All You, plus on the Colgate site, so $.99 after both!
Jordan says
are there any other rite aid $5/25 coupons available that you know of Charlene? I was only able to print one and I really need another one! I already used my video values coupon… thanks.

Hi Charlene, I just wanted to highlight the fact that the deal
“Old Spice Deodorant (not Fresh Collection), Secret Deodorant, Herbal Essences or Scope Mouthwash $2.49” has LIMIT of 2 per offer. ๐
Anu says
One more deal that I saw in my Rite Aid Pure and Natural hand wash and soap bars are priced at $3.67 since I guess last two weeks and this week too, so one can use $2 VV with $1 Maf coupon from Pure & Natural Site and grab them for only .67cent.
Charlene says
Ok thanks Anu!
Charlene says
Kristy do you mean they aren’t rolling? So there appears to be a limit per Wellness card? I know I had someone tell me they rolled that exact deal 10 times or something last Sunday so maybe Rite Aid is catching on now?
Sandra says
Anyone else NOT see the Gillette Men’s Skin Care AdPerk??? Also, there is a $3 Coppertone AdPerk available to sweeten that deal.
Anu says
Charlene I tired to open the link you posted with the Clearasil deal but it would say ” Sorry. You cannot access the offers at this time “. Help !

Are the policies for Riteaid suppose to be the same across the board or does each individual store get to dictate their own policies, I was wondering because I have several in my area and they seem to conflict so much with each other, one will not let me use the 5 off 25 before other qs but the other one will but none of them will let me use internet coupons, which makes it very hard to get these deals. I was wondering if I should call corporate and ask directly or do I save my breathe (it is the mananger himself who told me no IQs because of fraud). Thanks ladies for your advice
Kristin says
I had a problem ONCE with the cashier not wanting to take my manuf. coupon and RA in ad Q and a VV Q because the MQ said one per purchase. I explained to her that I am using ONE MQ for the purchase and that I was allowed to use the RA in ad Q AND the VV Q with my MQ. Well, she called a manager over, and he was sooo excited, he tells her of course she can do that, what a great deal you are getting ๐ He said you can use all 3 coupons for ONE item!! ๐ of course, he is now my favorite manager ๐
Charlene says
Crystal, I would call just to see what they say. From what I hear, people have good luck with RA corporate customer service. In general, I think the drugstores allow store managers a lot of freedom with coupon policies. Since Rite Aid has such a lovely written policy, I think it would be worth a call though and see what they suggest you do.

Gillette Body Wash $2.99 deal:
Buy 4 Body Wash = $11.96
Use 2 B1G1’s q – 5.98 = $5.98
Use $4/2 Gillette Body Wash = $1.98
So, you get 4 body washes for $1.98, and then you get the $2.99 SCR, making it a $1.01 moneymaker.
Lori says
I used Christina’s Veet scenario, but found my local RA had Veet on clearance for $4.49. Was able to use all the coupons to make it a moneymaker!
