This is such an odd deal I can’t find any reference to this sale in the weekly ad. I wouldn’t make a special trip, but if you happen to be hitting CVS it might be worth looking for!
Colgate Total was priced at $2.79 with a $2.00 off sale tag! Reader Random Musings used a .75/1 coupon for Colgate and got it for .04!

I seen the same tag at CVS yesterday out here in Natomas and thought it meant it was already reduced by two dollars (really it was hot and I was ready for a nap). What makes it even worse is that I got a $1 dollar off Colgate Total tooth paste coupon from the CVS coupon machine. I’m going back to the store tomorrow, hopefully the price hasn’t changed.
My CVS didn’t have any make-up on clearance, but right on an end cap in the make-up section was a random assortment of clearance items. Cans of clams for .20 apiece (linguine with clams, here we come!), crabmeat for .33/can, Kraft mac and cheese spirals for .47/box, and the Colgate deal you show above.
It pays to just walk the aisles and look around! Plus those mega packs of diapers for 3.47– I made out like a bandit today and walked away with another $7 in ECBs!
Yes, I got the toothpaste last week for 79 cents. I didn’t have a coupon with me but I thought that that was a good price for toothpaste. There was a sign just like your photo. I also got lots of Huggies diapers, J & J, Aveeno and pampers wipes reduced by 75%. Incredible price. (I am at the Jersey Shore.)
After seeing this post I made sure and checked my store since I was already going there yesterday …. 🙂 If I wouldn’t have known from your post I would have never noticed the $2 off sign – but I was looking and was able to use all my coupons and get cheap toothpaste! 🙂 Thanks so much for all the ‘alerts’ you give us to check for things! 🙂
