Office Depot: Free $5 Credit + Great Deal on Brother Printer

If you head over HERE and register for Office Depot emails, you can get $5 added to your Worklife Rewards account.

Now you need to actually have an account to get the money added to it- so you can register for one HERE.  They will also send you a $15/75 coupon!

One thing I wanted to mention from this week’s Office Depot ad, is that they have a good price on the Brother HL 2140 printer.

It is marked down to $69.99 from $119 this week.  I have been waiting for a sale on these printers since this is the printer I use.  It only prints in black and white but I have found that the ink expense in the MFA household has gone down dramatically since I bought this printer a year ago.  I have purchased 4 toner cartridges at about $33 each in one year- and I typically print way more than the average person- so if you are in the market for a printer I have been really happy with this one.

Usually coupons exclude technology items but you might try to get that $15/75 coupon and see if you can use it toward this printer.

(I paid $64 last year but I haven’t seen the price that low since.)

I have this printer too and I LOVE it! I have been on the same toner cartridge since January and I print quite a bit. On Black Friday it was around $50.

Have you had any problems with it? How much use does it get? I have two and a friend has one and all three of them just quit feeding paper. I also have a couple Brother ink jet printers that did the same thing. I love their printers but after about a year they become paperweights – all with the same problem, won’t feed the paper anymore. I have one that just started doing that. I have contacted Brother with no response – do you have any connections?

Well hopefully we hear from others that have this one but actually I love it. I ordered last May and have not had a single issue. I hate to recommend things and then have people hate them but in my opinion it was a good investment. The major drawback I have found is that when this printer runs out of ink you are done. No warning and you can stretch it a bit longer like with other printers I have had. So I always keep an extra cartridge on hand just in case.

I have seen these (new) on ebay for $65 and you can go through shopathome. I get my toner at http://www.supermediastore.com for about $22 each and you can go through shopathome for them as well!! I believe you have to buy 3 at a time to get it that cheap but I have some girlfriends that also bought this printer so we split.

OH!! One more thing. These toners have sensors on them. That’s why they QUIT at 2500 prints. Cover the sensors with masking tape and you can literally TRIPLE the amount of printing you can do. There’s a video on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPCGZZIdXyM

I LOVE this printer and highly recommend it. I’ve had it for about a year. I couldn’t live without it and it has NEVER acted up at all. If you get paper jams, make sure to fan your paper before you put it in the tray.

I actually love the printers by Brother, but have resigned myself to the fact that they are ‘disposable’. I keep buying them – usually paying no more than $50. I do a lot of printing for my business, so maybe those of you with them just have not hit that mark where the paper feed stops working. I have friends that have had these and have the same problem and have seen this mentioned on lists. I just wish Brother would address it and repair them or fix it. They choose to ignore it. If they would deal with it, these would be perfect printers! BTW I recently bought a color laser printer by Brother – got it down to $8 and change with coupons/rewards, and it is doing fine. But a previous color laser – that was expensive – just stopped feeding paper as well. I still have that one because it was expensive and keep hoping for the fix…..

I second the comment about the printers being disposable. Both my mom and my mother-in-law bought this printer, and both had them stop working.

I got this same one a few months ago after getting into couponing but I paid only $49.99 at Office Depot. Usually about every 6 mths they will be this price.

We paid that 50 dollar Office Depot price. This thing is a workhorse. No more wobbly paper feeds, no messy blobs. Just prints and prints. It’s a home printer for us, so may take us a while to break it.

I used this printer for my notary business and I never had to change the cartridge at all and I printed tons of loan docs. I stopped being and notary and the printer kept going 🙂

I missed this sale at Office Depot last week but now see that it is on sale for the same price at Staples for $69.99. Also, Office Max has it on sale this week for $79.99……but……they are throwing in a $30 Visa gift card which makes it a better deal at $49.99!
