Save at Home Mommy and clever reader Tiffany came up with a great scenario for Purina dog food at Safeway Family stores.
The cans of dog food are priced at .65 each and there is a catalina promotion running:
Buy 6 cans, get $1
Buy 12 and get $2
Buy 24 or more and get $3
If you were lucky enough to get the $3 off 5 cans coupon in the 3/28 SS (this was regional), than you can try a few scenarios depending on how many coupons you have:
Buy 25 cans at .65 = $16.25
Use (5) $3/5 coupons = $1.25
And get back a $3 cat for your next purchase!
Or you can:
Buy 15 at $.65 each = $9.75
Use (3) $3/5 coupons= .75
And get a $2 catalina back!
Or if you have just one coupon:
Buy 6 cans at .65= $3.90
Use $3/5 coupon = .90
And get $1 back!
I don’t think I got this coupon in my inserts which is such a bummer. What a deal!
The cat offer ends 5/16!
I did this:
Buy 12 at $.65 each = $7.80
Use (2) $3 off 5 coupons = $1.80
Use (2) free can coupons (same insert as $3 off 5) = $0.50 total
And get a $2 catalina back!

Charlene, There were 2 SS inserts in the week of 3/28. I found it one of mine.
The same insert that had the $3 coupon also had a coupon for one free can.
We aren’t allowed to use 5 of the same coupons in one order so the scenario would be use 4 $5 coupons and 4 free can coupons and get the $3 cat.
