Here is a vlog for new couponers on how to get your hands on the best coupons. If everyone can politely pretend they don’t see the crayon on the back of the door that would be lovely.
Here are the basics:
* Newspaper Subscriptions. This is the best way to get coupons. Usually these are found in the Sunday paper but you might check your local newspaper 7 days a week just to see. In my area, the coupons are available in the Thursday paper which is .50- so much cheaper than buying extra copies of the Sunday paper!
You can also get a better deal on Sunday papers by checking your local Dollar Store or discount store (like a Big Lots etc..) You might make a phone call and see if they sell discounted Sunday papers.
* Internet Coupons. I mentioned coupons.com, Smart Source and Red Plum – these are usually the best resources for coupons and I keep you updated on new ones that come out.
* Magazines! I post the All You coupons each month so you know exactly what to expect. Otherwise I mentioned Babytalk and American Baby which are free right now. I post other free magazines regularly but they tend to go very quickly.
* Go Direct. Check the web sites for brands you like- they often have great coupons. You can also subscribe to newsletters and like them on Facebook since they might also release coupons that way. You can call or email companies as well and they might send you some great coupons! I posted a list of companies to get started with HERE.
Feel free to leave any great tips you have for finding coupons in the comments below!
Reader Robin told me she saw a commercial for Subway for a free breakfast tomorrow. I dug around You Tube and found the commercial HERE- it looks like the breakfast is available to Southern CA residents only from 7-11am tomorrow. You get a sandwich and an 8oz coffee with no purchase necessary.
I would call ahead to your location just to confirm they are participating!
Reader Dee put together a great scenario for those of you with cats. Petco’s circular this week features 3lb bags of Organix cat food at $2 off (or $7.99).
There is a $4 off Organix cat food coupon HERE for Petco!
So after the sale and coupon you will pay $3.99 for a 3lb bag of Organic cat food. That sounds like a good deal to me! The sale should run through Saturday.
**You might call ahead to check the price of the Organix before you head out. The price is not listed in the ad so it wouldn’t hurt to confirm the $7.99 price!

After a terrible experience at Rite Aid yesterday it was lovely to go to CVS and get a great deal and get treated nicely at the same time! Love CVS!
So combined with the shopping trip HERE it was pretty much $50 on the nose this week.
Price Chopper shoppers have good coupons again this week.
You can head over to Facebook and they have a coupon to get store brand paper towels for .10 or store brand glass cleaner for .50. They also have a coupon for 50% off tulips.
Reader Gigi let me know about a great sale at Avon right now. They have quite a few things that might make for nice Mother’s Day gifts- like this Breast Cancer Crusade necklace for $10!
They have items in the outlet starting at .59- so let us know if you spot a great deal!
Shipping is free with code: FSANY.
You can go direct to Avon.com to place your order or you can use a referral link for one of the MFA readers that is also an Avon rep.
This is Gigi’s link HERE and I am sure lots more reps will leave their links in the comments below.
You can also use Ebates for 5% back plus a $5 bonus for new accounts or Shop at Home has 9% back.
Banana Republic is definitely not frugal but they rarely issue promo codes- so if you are a fan you can use code: BRSPECIAL to save 30% today only. This ends at midnight EST- so 9pm for my West Coast readers.
Certain exclusions will apply and be sure to use Ebates for 4% cash back!
