Office Max has a few items that are “free” after Office Max rewards this week.  I don’t feel like these are really freebies because you won’t actually get your money back, but rather the purchase price of your items back in future store credit.

So this is a good deal if you have other things you need:

* Legal Pads (6pk) – $6.99
* UniBall Gel Pens – $5.49
* Heavy Duty View Binders – $8.99
* Heavyweight Manilla File Folders – $8.99

You can register for the Office Max rewards program HERE.

You should get a Rewards number instantly and you will not need to fill out any rebate forms.  The Rewards will be credited to your account by the 20th day of the following month.  You can print them out and take them in with you to use as store credit.

Has anyone ever tried to use these on postage stamps?

Thanks Saving with Shellie!

    You can use your maxperks rewards to buy almost anything in the store, even pre-paid gift cards from there kiosk like old navy, olive garden, etc including pre-paid credit cards. The pre paid credit cards have an activation fee but are worth it in my eyes.

    If you order online there are also coupons so you pay less and still get the full amount back. Combine with ebates, shopathome, or mypoints for even extra profit on these items.

    Just a warning: I did this last fall for some free paper and it didn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped. I have the Teacher reward card, which seems to have different terms. With that card, rewards are payable quarterly rather than monthly. Also, if you order online and the sale doesn’t post immediately, the reward may not show up on the account. It’s an easy phone call to get customer service to adjust it, but you have to know to do it. Also, for some reason, the purchase never showed up on ebates either. I didn’t complain about it since the stuff was already (going to be) free. Long story short, I’m still waiting on my reward from a purchase in October… I haven’t decided whether I’ll try again in the future.

    I had the same experience with my order in January. The rewards never showed up. When I called about it the operator could only find a reward for one item after looking forever. Unfortunatly I couln’t quit remember what the rewards should have been but I knew that it was more than they were saying or I would not have placed the order in the first place. Fortunately, I was able to pull up the blog where I saw the add. Called again. Got someone else that was able to pull it right away. So hopefully it will be taken care of.
    Make sure you keep the reward info if and when you place a order.
    PS. Part of the problem seemed to be that the order shipped after the sale date.
