We double checked with store manager today and it is our store policy (Ukiah, CA) that it is $50 BEFORE coupons and club cards, now that means even the price of the FREE stuff is included. Yipee!!! If you use the Doritos, Lucerne Cheese and then buy the cheap grapes and clementines, you are probably already at $50 with the free stuff. As I’ve said before, my son works at Safeway. My total before taking off coupons was over $50 and then after all the coupons it was $40. The receipt shows my beef and salad as being free but not the pasta or salad dressing. I need to go back in and get my $3.25 back! Check your receipt before you leave the store to make sure your discounts came off!! I used these coupons today. I feel like shoppers all over the blogosphere score these great deals at SW, but to me they make it sooo much harder than Albie's. I tried getting one of the free items during the 12 days of free around Christmas, when it did Not say the total had to be after coupons, and it was a total headache. Gal acted like I was a criminal for wanting mini muffins for free after only spending 17.00. How much do they think mini muffins are worth anyway? I hope people have good luck with these, but I'm betting they're programmed to delete if your total dips before 50, and I haven't spent that much op at a grocery store in eons! I’m so with you.
