Now that we are back from vacation I need to do some serious restocking. We are low on a lot of things! I just ran into Safeway to get dinner (yes frozen pizza and Diet Soda) and when I am not so tired I will get a real trip planned!
Safeway Soda $2.76 for 4
4 Corn Flakes .99- used (2) $1.50/2 coupons
2 gallons milk $4.98
2 packages of bacon on clearance .99
lunch meat on clearance .99
clementines 5lb box $3.97- used $1 safeway coupon and $1 manufacturer coupon
pizza $3.49
hummus $2.49- used $1 safeway coupon from in store promotion
Chocolate Chips- FREE with $20 purchase
Total was 20.78 and I just realized I was charged $1.50 for the chocolate chips that should have been free. So I will ask for a refund on my next trip!
Careful on returning the choco chips, since your total was only $20.78 with the $1.50 charged for the chips. I hate it when that happens.
You forgot the price of your pizza.
ha thanks- the whole reason for trip! Can you tell I am EXHAUSTED? Drove until 3am this morning to get home!
I have had problems with the free items at Safeway…..One coupon worked with my original total over $20 but under after coupons. Last night, my total was over $20, but under after coupons and I didn’t get the free breakfast sausage, and once the coupon didn’t work because I bought gift cards. I probably won’t try any more of them because it is frusterating!
No prob……Yeah fatigue can cost $, LOL!!!
Yes it is. I just keep them in my wallet to get a refund the next time. Very frustrating!
I had that same problem. Your total has to be $20 AFTER they make the item free AND after all coupons. Bummer.
Apparently, the free coupons are having issues every day. I’ve read on several sites about other free coupons not working. Now, right now, the Safeway site says the 20 dollar purchase amount is Before club card discounts and coupons, so you shouldn’t have any problem getting the chocolate chips for free. Supposedly, Safeway corporate is going to change the wording (I’m starting to think they really don’t like coupon shoppers!), but as of now, don’t let them try to sell you any baloney. I think the truth is those coupons are just never coded correctly. I know some people think they do it on purpose (think about all the people paying for stuff they thought was free who don’t check their receipts). Personally, I just think their it department can’t keep up with their marketing department!
Great run anyway and thanks for the tip on the oranges-I need those for stockings! The All detergent is also a good deal with the mq and the super coupon.
Why does she have to be careful about getting back the $1.50 she was overcharged?
Her total is well above the 20 dollar (incl. coupon discounts) minimum purchase. Also, the price of the FREE item counts towards the 20 dollar minimum.
