Honestly I just don’t know what it going on with Safeway. It used to be my favorite store and now I am going for weeks without a single thing I really want to purchase from them. I might have to branch out more.
Anyway, just wanted to point out there are 4 coupons for free items in the ad that broke today. They are only available today-Tuesday and include free Safeway Bacon, a dozen eggs, Safeway bread and OJ. The catch is you now have to spend $50 AFTER all coupons. This has been slowly changing and believe it or not once upon a time it just required a $10 pre coupon purchase to use these in ad coupons- so a pretty dramatic change.

I do not understand why Safeway has decided they don’t want couponers, when they get reimbursed for those mqs!

I feel the same way! I guess for me the minimum $20 to use the in ad coupons has turned me off. Its Albies for me now too!
I don’t mind Safeway putting on the minimum purchase amount on the coupons and can even see the higher limit($50) on the freebies coupons but then to add the AFTER coupons part is a bit much. Especially when it is on an ad that doesn’t feature much for the week and also the week after everyone probably already dropped a small fortune in the preceding weeks for holiday meals.
Plus it takes a lot of mental math to figure out how much you have in your cart etc. I always fear getting to the counter with the freebies in your cart only for them to tell you you haven’t quite made the limit. One time they had a freebie and I just squeeked in at 50.12, but that was before you had to worry about the after coupons part of the equation. Unfortunately Safeway is just about our only shopping choice around here.
K I agree totally. The after coupons part is what gets me. I don’t have much else to choose from either but I am struggling to put together deals from this week’s ad so you are exactly right.
I agree with all of you! I hope you all take a moment to drop Safeway an email about your frustrations, even if they don’t do anything about it! I have recently been shopping at Savemart (related to Albertsons??) and have been enjoying some great savings over there.
Getting really tired of them. Didn’t seem to care about multiple coupons, now it’s no more than 3 like (depending upon cashier). And today, one of them even changed that to 2 when a cashier was asking to verify it was 3. (Even had a different store tell me only 1 like coupon… per WEEK, LOL!!!!)
