Staples: Great Deal on Batteries

11/28/2009

staplesSorry I meant to post this a few days ago- but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of urgency as this deal runs for a few weeks.

You can buy a 20pk of Duracell Batteries for $12.99 at Staples and get a $12.99 rebate back!  Now the rebate is only good in Staples stores so this isn’t a Free After Rebate item- but it is still a good deal as you can use the rebate to buy ink or paper or whatever you need!

The offer is limited to 2 per person per week through 12/26 or while supplies last.  It is only good on AA or AAA batteries- you can get more details HERE.

You can use the .50 or $1 coupons to make this a better deal- but personally I would use the 20% off Office Depot coupon (they take competitor coupons) to save an extra $2.50.  So pay $10.49 and get $12.99 back in store credit!  (You can only use the coupon for one item.)

At my Staples they made a huge stink about how they do NOT take competitor’s internet coupons.

Shame. I have used them many times at many stores and never had a problem.

My Staples said they do take competitor coupons but that I could not use it on the batteries because I was getting 100% back. I had them try it any way and they still said computer would not take the coupon. Has anyone been successful?

I haven’t gone in for batteries but have used that coupon on other FAR items with no problem. I am not sure how the computer would know since you are actually paying $12.99 up front. They need to manually enter it since you can’t scan a coupon from another store.

Staples refused to accept any coupons, not even their own, on the batteries. They also said that they would not take any manufacturers coupons (including $1.00 off Durcell from P&G) on anything anytime and that they would take only coupons from stores that they considered competitors (e.g., no Walgreens coupons for $2.00 off Duracell batteries). Does anyone know if Staples coupon policy is written down somewhere? I asked but the store manager said that he had no idea. When I pressed, he looked for a bit and said that he couldn’t find it.

Sorry Dad- I am not aware of one but you can try calling maybe? I did this last week and used the 20% off coupon. Maybe try a different store or a different cashier?
