The Nielsen Homescan is open again! Now this program is run by the same company that does the TV shows and basically they want to know what you buy at the grocery store! Here’s the deal- they will send you a little scanner- you scan the groceries you buy. Then you qualify for free gifts- supposedly the gifts are really good!
Now I went through this whole process so I could be more informed since there is a lot of hype around Home Scan. This particular program did not work for me but that is because I shop a lot- then I come home and sort it all out to post it on here. That is a lot of work. So adding to it by using the scanner was a little too much. But a non blogger does not have the same issues so this might be a great fit for you!
I found the company very pleasant and the box that gets shipped has a self addressed return mailer. So if you don’t like the program you can just send the thing right back.

It is very true….don’t do this if you run a blog! Now that I’m not doing the blog, this is a great program to be a part of. I actually love it and it works great for us. As I’m unloading my stuff out of the bags, I just scan them and put them away. I can’t wait to cash in our points for some prizes!!
I actually blog AND do Homescan, although I don’t blog to the extent that you do here (maybe someday!). I have been doing Homescan for about two years now and have gotten enough points to buy gifts twice (a shredder, and a super cute vespa-style trike for our kids). I used to do a lot of surveys but since having my second child haven’t had the time, but Homescan is the one thing I do still participate in.

I just followed your link and went through a bunch of questions and it said I would be placed on a waiting list. Is it still open or did I miss it?
Ellen I was wait listed as well. They will email you in awhile- i think it was about 2 months total before I got the thing.
Okay, I’m going to give it a try…pretty sure my girls will LOVE to help with the scanning! Does it take forever to save up enough points to get something?
