Target Coupon Policy (In Writing!)

Target has officially published their coupon policy on the web site HERE.

“Target Stores Coupon Policy

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores.

•
Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited)
• Super Target coupons can be used in any Target store if the store carries the item
•
We gladly accept valid internet coupons

Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

• We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued.
• We’ll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
• We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
• We can’t accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
• All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you’re checking out.”

There are a few things that sound out to me:

**If your coupon exceeds the amount of the item you can ask them to adjust the coupon rather than having it refused.
**It looks like it still leaves a lot to the discretion of the store- if the coupon is “valid” and stacking is allowed “unless prohibited”
**It does not address the issue of using more than one Target coupon in a single transaction

But at least its something! If you have a challenging store you might want to print a copy to keep with you.

Thanks Tara.

Can you find about the rules in CVS and Walgreens also. I tried to use the coupons first time in my life time but I had every bad experiences at both the places. I felt very bad about it.

Thanks for posting this. Sadly I have yet to find a Target in the Sacramento/Roseville area that will take an internet coupon –I'm going to try again this weekend at Roseville and will have this in hand. Hopefully they won't treat me like a criminal again

Lindsay where are you shopping? I go to the Fairway store at least 2x a week and never have had that issue. I used to shop all the time on Douglas and didn't have a problem either. If you go to the Fairwway store my secret is to go to Lawn and Garden to check out. The guys are super mellow, there is never a line and rarely people behind you tapping their feet because of your coupons.

If you have issues again try going to customer service.

I have been going to the Fairway store too but I always seem to get one of 2 cashiers and I usually go on Saturday when it seems like everyone is very young. Each time I've tried it they would say they only take Target printed coupons and no internet coupons 🙁 I will have to try the lawn and garden area where there isn't someone hanging over them all the time. I haven't been to the Douglas store in some time – I got tired of all the remodel mess.

The Douglas one looks great now! It is bigger than Fairway. The only cashier that gives me a hard time is the British lady at Fairway. Otherwise I just bought items today with IPs- no problems.

The Bullhead City, Arizona Target treats couponers like criminals, even with my copy of thier policy in my hand. They did not honor the "adjust coupon down" as stated, and said that they do not have to follow the Target's on-line posted policy. I have called corporate twice and they are very helpful, however, when I go to the Target it's the same old song and dance. What a shame!
