As I mentioned here, there is a Johnson & Johnson rebate running through July #160: Spend $50 on participating items and get a $25 gift card. You just need to spend $50 before coupons so this can easily turn into a great deal- especially when combined with the $5/25 coupon here.

Participating Items Include:
Stayfree Maxi
Carefree Pantyliners
Aveeno Skin, Bath and Haircare
Neutrogena Cosemetics
ROC moisturizers
Band Aid Ultrastrip and Antibiotic
Listerine
Neosporin .5 and .26 oz
Monistat M1 and M3
KY Brand Intense
ept
Motrin 100 ct
Childrens Motrin 4oz
ob Tampons
Tylenol
St Joseph
Zyrtec 30 ct and D24
benadryl Allergy
Sudafed and Sudafed PE

So the best deals for this week seem to be:

Stayfree Maxi $4.50 BOGO 14-24 ct
Use BOGO coupon from 6/28 SS
FREE after coupon and $4.50 counts toward the rebate

KY Intense $23.99
Use $5/1 coupon from 5/10 RP
Submit Rite Aid Rebate #1 for $4
Final Price: $14.99

Neutrogena Cosmetics are 40% off- the lowest priced item I see is $7.99 (or $4.79 after discount)
Use $3/1 from 6/21 RP
Final Price: $1.79 (and the entire $4.79 counts toward rebate)

Listerine Smart Rinse $4.49
Use $2 printable here
Submit $1 rebate
Final Price: $1.49 after rebate

Band Aids are BOGO $4.69
Use (2) $1 off from 4/26 RP
Final Price: $2.69 for 2 packs (and the entire $4.69 counts)

So there are several ways to make this rebate work. One idea assuming you don’t have numerous copies of the inserts:

Trans #1:
KY Intense $23.99
($1.01 filler item)- like Wet Ones $1.99
Subtotal $25.98
Use $5/25 Rite Aid coupon
Use $5/1 KY coupon
Use $1/1 Wet Ones printable
Pay: $14.98 and submit KY rebate for $4 and Wet Ones rebate for $1- for a net of $9.98 spent and $23.99 credited toward J&J rebate.

Trans #2:
Buy (4) Stayfree at $4.50 (these are BOGO so 2 will be free) $9.00
Buy (1) Listerine Smart Rinse $4.49
Buy (3) Neutrogena items at $7.99-40%off sale will make them $4.79
Subtotal $27.86
Use $5/25 Rite Aid coupon
Use (3) $3 Neutrogena coupons
Use $2 Listerine printable
Use (2) Stayfree BOGO coupons
Final Price: $2.86- submit rebate for Listerine for $1- so $1.86 net paid for all that.

You will have spent $51.85 in J&J items so you will qualify for the $25 gift card.

Bottom line: You will have paid $17.84 total and will have $6 in rebate checks coming back plus a $25 Rite Aid gift card.

NOTE: You will need to pay tax on your pre-coupon total so don’t forget to factor that in. Also, some cashiers will not allow for the BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. (It is perfectly legitimate to use the coupon.) You just need to accumulate $50 total this month so you don’t have to purchase all these items this week.

What the Heck is RP and SS?

06/27/2009

Share

I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked “I like your blog, but what does SS mean?”

Which makes me laugh because all the coupon lingo must seem like Greek at times. So to answer the question- SS means SmartSource which is one of the inserts in the Sunday paper. You can tell it is SS (or SmartSource) because of the logo at the top of the insert.

And this is the RedPlum- logo in top left corner again. I refer to it as RP but some refer to it as Valassis or “V”- they are the same thing.

We clarify which insert (SS or RP) to make it easy to find the coupon you need. Occasionally we also see Procter and Gamble inserts which are referred to as “P&G” or General Mills inserts- referred to as “GM”.
If you see something like this:
$1/2 from 8/19 SS
That means go and get the insert from the 8/19 newspaper that is from SmartSource.  The date will be listed on the spine of the coupon insert.
There can be up to 5 inserts in a paper so if we only referenced the date that would be a pain to try and dig out the coupon you need.
If you did not happen to purchase a newspaper that weekend you are most likely out of luck.  You can purchase coupons online or you can hunt around and try to find printables.  I suggest checking the coupon database first for any coupons you might need.  You can also check the manufacturer’s web site and Facebook page.

Did you use this great coupon a few months ago at NY&Co? So did I- and I signed up for the NY&Co mailers while I was there. Today I got this postcard which is good for $10 off a $10 purchase through July 12th. I see free Flip Flops in my future.

Did you get one too?
