Target Preview May 31

05/27/2009

Share

Here is the week’s sneak peak courtesy of Neekyme at AFC!

The razors are guaranteed to be a good deal with a $10 gift card when you buy 2 Gillette Venus Embrace or Fusion Razors at $7.99

There were $2/1 Venus razor coupons in the 5/3 P&G insert. These expire 5/31 so you only have one day to do this deal:

Buy (2) Venus at $7.99= $15.98
Use (2) $2 coupons = $11.98
And get a $10 gift card

So a net cost of $1.98 for two razors after gift card

(With Target gift card deals the register will prompt the gift card when your items scan. The gift card is not active until your next transaction so you need to pay the entire amount up front.)

EDITED: Here is an interesting article for Target loyalists about how Target plans to increase grocery items to compete with Walmart. YEAH! I always find incredible deals using Target and manufacturer coupons and am looking forward to more products!

I loved this frugal tip from paid twice to take the 10 second rule and apply it to your spending. On my frugal journey, I use this same method every week. I used to do my shopping on Sunday as I was excited to hit the stores and score all the best deals. I usually wait at least a day now to do my shopping and it is funny how the hot deals become less and less exciting with each day that passes. I used to get a little carried away trying to hit every store and get every deal and now I have learned that every deal will come again.

The other method I use when evaluating a purchase is to remember my husband’s hourly pay. If I am considering a $120 haircut and highlight, I stop and force myself to do the math on how many hours of his time it took to generate that amount.

For example, if you make $20/hr it would take 6 hours of work to pay for that trip to the salon. This helps me put things in perspective and helps me to evaluate whether the expense is really necessary.

Free Coffee Sample

I was excited when Marcy posted this great sample this morning– Dunkin Donuts coffee is really good! Plus I love having coffee samples on hand for the times when I run out (gasp!) of coffee.

I have just requested the Boca Java $4.95 for 4 bags of coffee offer and I will let you know how it goes! Just like with Gevalia you are enrolled in a monthly club but can cancel immediately after receiving your promotional shipment. Hopefully Boca Java is as easy as Gevalia was to cancel!

Kraft Overage at Safeway

05/26/2009

Share

I paid $2.50 for what you see above- 3 salad dressing, 2 cheese and 1 deli meat.

I used (3) Kraft $1.50/1 coupons and got .16 overage on each, used $1/1 for Athenos to make those $1 each and bought a clearance lunch meat for $1 (I always check the clearance section as this lunch meat doesn’t expire until 6/25). Used the overage from Kraft to offset the cost of the cheese.

PS: If you have insert coupons for Kraft they are only good on 16oz sizes or the dressing in the front. The olive oil dressing is 14 oz- I used (2) tearpad coupons that did not specify size.
