This is our entry closet located right by the front door. I love this closet as it is home to so many different things that make my life just a tiny bit easier.
1. Shoes. We don’t wear shoes in the house. The majority of our shoes fit right into the shoe organizer and it is easy to keep them organized and the carpet (somewhat) clean.
2. Donation area. We have donation pick ups in our community every few weeks. When I am unpacking items from our shopping trips that I intend to donate, they go right into the closet by the door. Everything is together, out of the way and ready for me to toss into bags on pick up day. Can you see the Bayer meters on the top shelf? ๐
3. Toy area. I learned this a long time ago from a French family that had an amazingly chic home- despite 3 little ones running around. They divided up the toys into baskets and only gave the children a certain number of items to play with daily. Crystal had a great post on how this has worked for her family as well. I use an assortment of bright bags and tubs to keep things fun and interesting (and I am also too frugal to buy a bunch of matching bins.) So every evening we pick up today’s toys and put them away. In the morning, I randomly pull out a new tub and my daughter has a whole assortment of new things to play with.
This has been a wonderful way to ensure toys don’t take over the house and keeps things pretty clutter free (so mommy isn’t grouchy). Strangely enough, I have found many days where we don’t even open the bag of toys.
I would love to learn any little tricks you have to make things a bit more organized around your home!

Excellent Post. I am hoping to implement all or some of your ideas soon!
Such clever ideas-I love the toy rotation! Thanks!
I love the rotation idea for toys. I used to do that when Roo was younger. We had 4 different tubs and each would come out for a week.
Great ideas! We have the same shoe organizer in our entry closet too! ๐
